About JC Sandalwood, the Plantations & our Partner
Rare access to a sought-after niche of raw material.
Our JC group is based in Hamburg and has been operating its own sandalwood plantations in the tropical north of Australia since 2010. The 5 plantations (about 700 hectares) which grow almost 350,000 sandalwood trees are managed by our Australian partner Quintis. Co-investors have access to the sandalwood investment only through the JC Group. JC is also the only entrepreneurial investor. In 2018 the marketing of sandalwood products and sandalwood was started.

An experienced partner on-site in Australia.
JC-Partner Quintis (Australia) Pty Limited was founded in 1997 (at that time under the name of TFS-Tropical Forestry Services) and is considered the world’s leading supplier of sandalwood and producer of pharmaceutical grade sandalwood oil. Quintis has decades of expertise and state-of-the-art infrastructure and has been certified and awarded several times. In 2018 Quintis was restructured and privatized. As of today, Quintis cultivates around 5.8 million Indian sandalwood trees on its plantations, which extend over approximately 12,900 hectares.
About Sandalwood, our Impact & the Co-Investment Opportunity
Adored. Desired. Rare.
Sandalwood, one of the oldest wood species in the world. It is used for cultural, natural cosmetic and medical purposes all over the world, but is threatened with extinction due to over-exploitation. For about 20 years now, sandalwood has been cultivated in the tropical north of Australia in an environmentally friendly and socially responsible way on sustainably managed plantations by Quintis, our partner and global market leader for sandalwood. Our Sandalwood cultivation not only protects the freely growing sandalwood stock, but finally offers a sustainable source for the worldwide buyers of sandalwood.

Climate Action. Biodiversity. Health.
JC Sandalwood directly contributes to 7 out of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. For example, a fully grown sandalwood tree absorbs about 21kg of CO2. That is an extraordinary amount, achieved through the sustainable cultivation of our sandalwood trees in mixed forests which raises the ability of the trees to bind an above-average amount of CO2. The mixed sandalwood forests also support the development of soil quality, have a positive effect on the water table and also give many animals a new home. More than 100 different animal and bird species were counted in the mixed sandalwood forests. Sandalwood has been used in Ayurvedic medicine and in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for millennia. But conventional medicine also values the anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal and cell growth-inhibiting effects of sandalwood. JC Sandalwood’s partner Quintis produces a pharmaceutical grade sandalwood oil. Only oil of this quality may be used for the manufacture of medicines.

Tangible asset. Above average returns. Various investment vehicles.
No matter who is president, whether stock markets collapse, property bubbles burst or governments change – the sandalwood trees continue to grow unimpressed. As a tangible asset, sandalwood has a low potential for fluctuation and brings relaxation to the portfolio due to the low correlation with the volatility of the capital markets and economic developments. Sandalwood as a real asset investment is largely independent of currency fluctuations and therefore suitable as an addition to or as a supplement to an investment portfolio and strategy.

Why we invested in ACT
We appreciate the deep commitment and cooperative spirit of the team which is also shows in their hybrid model of being registered as not only as a limited company, but also as a cooperative.
